Institutional quarantine mandatory in Rourkela for COVID hotspot district returnees

Rourkela: In view of sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in several districts across the state, the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) has decided not to allow people coming from the hotspot districts for home quarantine option.

In a letter, the RMC said people coming to the Steel City from districts like Khrodha, Ganjam, Bhadrak, Balasore, Nayagarh, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda and Balangir will have to undergo institutional quarantine mandatorily  for 14 days.

Earlier, those having facilities in their house (separate room and bathroom) were allowed to undergo home quarantine in RMC area.

Late on July 2, RMC declared several areas in Sector-16 here as Containment Zone after detection of a COVID-19 positive case. Meanwhile, door-to-door survey by health teams  formed by RMC is underway as part of integrated health surveillance. This would continue till July 31.

Currently, the number of COVID-19 case in Sundargarh district stands at 256, including 80 active cases.
