Intense heat grips Odisha

Most parts of Odisha came under the grip of a nearly heat-wave condition with Titlagarh recording the highest temperature at 40.5 degree Celsius today.

Bhawanipatna recorded the second highest temperature with 40.2 degree Celsius.

Normal life was thrown out of gear in the coastal districts with high humidity accentuating the effect of the rising summer heat.

While temperature shot up to above 39 degree in Bhubaneswar (39.4), Puri (39.2), Angul (39.5), Sambalpur (39.1), Bolangir (39.2) and Phulbani (39), it was 38 degree and above in Chandbali (38), Jharsuguda (38.6), Keonjhargarh (38), Hirakud (38.8) and Sonepur (38.6).

The Met office has predicted further rise in the temperature in the next 48 hours in the state especially in the west and central districts under the impact of the north-westerly wind.
