Intense rain, thunderstorm to occur in 20 Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning has been predicted by Indian Meteorological Centre in as many as 20 districts of Odisha today.

Due to the formation of well-marked low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal, parts of Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Sundergarh will witness intense rainfall and moderate thunderstorm with lightning.

Such weather conditions are likely to prevail between 2 pm and 6 pm, this evening in these areas.

Notably, the low pressure is likely to turn into depression in next 24 hours, said an IMD report.
