Intense rainfall alert for Twin City; thundershower in 14 Odisha districts likely

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain accompanied with dangerous lightning has already started in many parts of the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack affecting the normal life.

As per the latest bulletin, the The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre issued warning for the Twin City.  The intense spell of rain may lead to slippery road, poor visibility and waterlogging in low-laying areas and underpass roads.

“Light t o moderate rain with one or two intense (2-3cm/hr) spells of thundershowers is very likely to occur during the next two to three hours,” the bulletin read.

The heavy downpour for the last two to three days has already waterlogged roads in many parts of Twin City disrupting road traffic.

Also, the Regional MeT Centre predicted rainfall in as many as 14 districts.

Light  to moderate thundershower is very likely  to occur at one or  two places over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Jagarsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Puri, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Boudh, the weathermen cautioned.

The weather condition is likely to prevail till 2.30 PM today.
