Kesinga: Forest department busted an inter-state wildlife trafficking racket with seizure of 3 tiger skins and one tooth and arrest of 4 persons in Kalahandi district.
Acting on a tip-off, a central forest team, M. Rampur Forest Range Officer Asit Das and officials of Chhattisgarh Forest Department conducted a joint raid in Kalahandi district on Friday. They stopped a motorcycle at Palam area and seized three tiger skins and a tiger tooth from the vehicle.
Four persons — Manoj Behera of M. Rampur, Narottam Bhoi of Narla, Rangacharan Bhoi of Bafla and Kartik Rana of Amath — were arrested in this connection.
They will be forwarded to a local court today, police source said today.
Source said that the inter-state wildlife smugglers were active in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
