International Literacy Day celebrated in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: The International Literacy Day was celebrated in 12 blocks of Kandhamal district on September 8 jointly by an NGO and Unicef with support from the district administration.

Around 10,000 school students, boy and girls took a pledge to say yes to school and do not allow child marriage in the district. The students, boys and girls wore mask and maintained social distance while participating in the programme.

They organised street plays, rallies and a human chain to create awareness about the importance of education in life and consequences of the evil practice of child marriage.

Anganwadi workers, Supervisors and District Child Protection Officer also attended the programme.
