Bhubaneswar: The ‘Mo School’ campaign of the Odisha government has generated great interest among Non-Resident Odias to connect with their schools and take part in its development. Odias in Europe, US and Australia and other countries along with various national and international organisation are very keen to join the programme.

This was revealed by Dr Susmita Mohanty, Chairperson of ‘Mo School’, while making a presentation before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat on the progress of the campaign.

Here are the highlights of the presentation:

- Mo School programme will achieve financial and administrative self-sustainability within next five years.
- Statewide awareness campaign covering all 30 districts in June, July and August; international campaign in September.
- Alumni, alumni associations, organisations, etc have joined the programme.
- Governing council and district, block-level committees for smooth conduct soon.
- Government to provide double the amount pledged by any individual/organisation for the designated work.
- Rs 100 crore corpus formed.
- Will help develop school infrastructure, sports facilities, hostels, environment awareness, health and curriculum development.

Notably, the ‘Mo School’ campaign, launched by the State Government on the occasion of Children’s Day last year, is an initiative to make passout students an active participant in the development journey of their schools.

Under this programme, whatever is contributed in terms of funds for development of schools, the state government will contribute double the amount. Initial corpus of Rs 100 crores has been announced for this initiative.
