IPL betting racket busted in Odisha; 9 youth arrested

Rourkela: Odisha Police today busted an IPL betting racket here with arrest of nine persons belonging to Chhattisgarh.

Acting on a tip-off, Biramitrapur police arrested nine youth following a raid at Jamunanaki area for allegedly betting money on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches and seized 18 mobile phones and tablets from their possession.

The accused persons have been identified as Maleet Singh (25), Vishal Rai (18), Himansu Debangan (25), Pankaj Debangan (22), Bikash Thakur (23), Minu Singh (21), Dinesh Kumar Sahoo (28), Vikramjit Singh (19) from and Jogendra Singh (22), all from neighbouring state Chhatisgarh.

They have been booked under sections 294 (A)/420/120(B)/34 of IPC and sections 4/5 of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes Act, 1978.
