IPL betting racket busted in Odisha’s Rourkela, 6 held

Bhubaneswar: Raghunathpali police in Rourkela city of Odisha today claimed to have arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in online betting during IPL matches.

“We have busted an online IPL betting racket and arrested six persons in this connection,” said an official of Raghunathpali police.

The arrested have been identified as Rabi Singh (22), Sekhar Wadhwani (23), Anurag Deharia (21), Dinesh Prithwani (24), Shankar Gangwani (22) and Dheeraj Adhwani (29). All the accused came to Rourkela from outside Odisha and they were running the online betting racket from a rented room in the civil township area of the Steel City, added the official.

On a tip-off, a special police team raided the room and arrested the accused. The police have seized three laptops, 20 mobile phones and four ATM cards from the accused, sources said.

“The accused were running the online betting racket through website rajveer.exch.com. They were trying to lure the youths with high returns. At least eight bank accounts of the accused persons have been frozen,” said the official.
