Irate mob ransacks Trahi Achyuta ashrams in Odisha

Irate locals today ransacked the Trahi Achyuta ashrams in Odisha’s Baleswar and Jajpur and Puri districts.

Trahi Achyuta ashramReports from Baleswar said the irate mob set fire to the kitchen of the ashram at Remuna in presence of the police men. Some people were seen looting articles from the ashram. Fire brigade is yet to arrive at the spot.

According to reports, the locals, following the news about Sura Baba and subsequent violence at Jhinti Sasan on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the locals of Remuna gathered at the ashram at 2 AM in the wee hours. Later, they went berserk and ransacked the ashram in presence of one platoon of police force who watched the incident as mute spectators.

Women here have accused Sura Baba of encroaching their lands forcibly. They said they have not been paid for their lands. The ashram is spread on one-and-half acre of land.

In Basta area of the district, the irate mob ransacked set the properties of the ashram on fire.

Sources said the police in the meanwhile have seized several weapons from these ashrams.

In Jajpur, the locals set fire to Trahi Achyuta ashram at Akarpada in the morning. To bring the situation under control, the district administration has deployed one platoon of armed police near the ashram. Till reports last came in, a fire brigade team has rushed to ashram and started dousing the fire.

Besides, the irate locals ransacked the Trahi Achyuta ashram at Talabania in Puri town and another branch of the ashram in Rourkela, the reports said.
