Iron ore seized, drivers arrested in Odisha

Police today seized four iron-ore laden trucks and arrested the drivers in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today.

ArrestActing on a tip-off that four dumpers carrying iron ore of about 10 MT each are on the way towards Rourkela, a team of police from Chandiposh police station rushed to Mundatola Square and detained the dumpers.

Police later seized iron ore weighing around 40 MT and arrested the four drivers after they failed to produce documents pertaining to the transport of iron ore.

They have been identified as Munna Karua (27), of Barbil, Matu Munda (27) of Joda, Sriram Gope (20) of Barbil and Ajay Khandayat (24) of Barbil.

According to police, the truck drivers, after loading the iron ore from Joda area, were on the way to Kuanrmunda to unload the material.

The drivers and the dumpers were later taken to Chandiposh police station.

“We have arrested four drivers who would be forwarded to the court tomorrow, US Naik, IIC, Chandiposh Police Station, told OST.
