ISKCON postpones plan to hold untimely Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar/Ludhiana: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) today decided to defer its plan to organise Rath Yatra in November in Ludhiana of Punjab.

In a press release, the ISKCON said, “Respecting the mood, sentiments and request of Sri Jagannath Seva Samiti, ISKCON Ludhiana has decided to postpone the November 17, 2019 Rath Yatra festival to the Ashada Sukla Ditiya of 2020 to coincide with the Rath Yatra festival day in Puri.”

Earlier, three cases were registered in Rourkela and Puri against the untimely Rath Yatra of ISKCON.

Worth mentioning, Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik had demanded in Odisha Assembly that the state government should raise the issue with Punjab counterpart against holding the world famous Ratha Jatra on other dates.
