ITDA engineer found dead inside his government residence in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani: The body of an engineer working in Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) was spotted today while hanging under mysterious circumstances inside his government quarters at Nadikhandi Sahi under Town police limits in Phulbani of Kandhamal district, today morning.

The deceased assistant executive engineer (AEE) was identified as Tusharendra Nayak.

According to a source, the AEE had to go on a field visit along with one of his colleagues. As engineer Nayak neither received the latter’s phone call nor called him back, the colleague later reached the AEE’s house and saw Nayak hanging from the ceiling fan of a room in the residence with the help of a long cloth. Immediately, the office staff informed the ITDA Project Administrator about it.

On being informed, a team of police and ITDA officials reached the spot. Police have seized Nayak’s body and initiated a probe. Preliminary investigation suggests that it is a case of death by suicide. The actual cause of death as to why the engineer took an extreme step has not been ascertained yet. “A post-mortem report will help confirm the cause of death,” a cop said.

Nayak was a native of Mayurbhanj district and his family resides in Bhubaneswar. He was on leave for nearly the last 20 days and had joined his duties yesterday, the senior cop expressed.
