ITI student engaged in FANI restoration dies after falling off train in Odisha

Rourkela: In a tragic incident, an ITI student engaged in power restoration work in Cyclone FANI-hit Bhubaneswar, died after falling of a train here in Odisha’s Steel City.

The deceased was identified as Bhaskar Sahu. He accidentally slipped off a running train while returning to his home in Rourkela from Bhubaneswar.

Following the incident, the students of the Rourkela Govt ITI today staged protest by locking up the main entrance of the institution in the morning. They demanded ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh and government service to a family member of the deceased student.

According to reports, Sahu was among 37 ITI students engaged in power supply restoration work in Bhubaneswar where the Cyclone FANI devastated the power infrastructure on May 3. After completing his assignment, he was on his way back to home from Bhubaneswar in Rourkela Intercity SF Express on Wednesday. The incident took place between Rajgangpur and Kansbahal where he reportedly fell off the train following which he died.
