Jagadhatri Puja is one of the important festivals celebrated after Durga Puja, Laxmi Puja and Kali Puja in the month of Kartik.
Devotees worship and celebrate reincarnation of Goddess Durga in the name of Jagadhatri.
It is celebrated mainly in the Hooghly district of West Bengal.
The festival is also celebrated at Chandannagar, Krishnanagar, Nadia and Kolkata after Durga Puja and Kali Puja in the month of Kartik.
Krishnachandra Ray, the King of Krishnanagar of Nadia district, had introduced the public worship of goddess Jagaddhatri, as per legend.
The festival was later initiated by Sarada Devi, Sri Ramakrishna’s wife.
Devotees gather to worship the Goddess, following the same rituals of Durga puja. Jagadhatri Puja marks the end of the Hindu festivals, for the calendar year.
