"Important repairing works of pillar stones and pockets would be done during Rath Yatra, when the deities will not be present inside the temple," said core committee executive chairman Gopal Chandra Mitra.

"We had a meeting to discuss what are the immediate steps we have to take before the Snana Yatra. Firstly, we have decided to stabilize and correct all the four pockets which are in distress. Secondly, we have decided to contain the column capitals. Thirdly, we have decided to jacket the columns where there are cracks," he said.

Notably, stainless steel sheets weighing about three tonnes had reached the temple on June 1. These sheets to be used for repair and conservation of the Jagamohana have been procured on the basis of recommendations of the technical core committee and experts of IIT Madras.
