Jagamohana repair to be completed by June 2

Repairing of Jagamohana-the prayer hall adjoining the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri would be completed by June 2, according to an affidavit submitted with the Orissa High Court today by Puri District Collector on behalf of the state government.

The affidavit said steel frames required for Jagamohana repair have been procured from Hyderabad have reached Bhubaneswar, those are being assembled and will be soon transported to Puri for fixing.

On the other hand, N K Mohanty amicus curiae also submitted a progress report on Jagamohana repair to the court.

“Collector Puri on behalf of the state government today submitted an affidavit on repair and conservation of the Jagamohana. Work is being undertaken expeditiously. Engineer-cum-amicus curiae N K Mohanty too has submitted a status report along with photographs stating that work is progressing expeditiously. Steel frames have arrived in Bhubaneswar. After assimilation, these frames will be transported to Puri and fixed. Efforts are on to complete it by June 2,” informed Dr. Ashok Mohapatra, petitioner’s counsel.

The court after examining the affidavit and progress report has fixed May 2 as the next date for hearing on the matter.
