Bhubaneswar: Amid three-day-long Raja festivities being celebrated with pomp and gaiety across the State, ‘Jai Odisha’ observed the mass festival with slum children in Bhubaneswar.
According to a spokesperson of Jai Odisha, the NGO conducted competitions in different categories like dance, song, drawing and quizzes etc among the girl children in 12 slums and distributed prizes among the winners. The overall best performer was felicitated with a crown and the title of Raja Queen.
The programme was enjoyed by local slum children and their parents. It was a unique opportunity for young children for showcasing their talents. At the same time, the children celebrated the Raja festival like never before, many residents opined.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Jai Odisha president Rudra Narayan Samantaray. All members of the NGO assisted in conducting the competitions.
“We wanted to bring smiles to the faces of children. Such competitions will also be organised on the last day of the Raja festival,” Jai Odisha president Samantaray said.
