Jajpur ATM loot cases: Teller machine recovered from water; 6 arrested

Jajpur: Police recovered an automated teller machine (ATM) from water body of a laterite stone mining area and arrested six accused persons in connection with an ATM loot case here today.

The arrested persons were accused of uprooting an ATM located at Neulpur Bazaar under Dharmasala police limits in Jajpur district. Allegedly, they were also involved in an ATM loot incident on August 26 at Haripur market area under Kuakhia police limits in the district.

A blueprint had been prepared by the Jajpur SP and a team comprising of three IICs of the district to nab the ATM looters.

Acting on tip-off, the team raided various locations in Jajpur and managed to apprehend six accused persons in connection with a series of ATM loot cases.

According to reports, unidentified miscreants had uprooted an SBI ATM at Neulpur Bazaar late on August 24 night and decamped with Rs 5,67,500 cash. After two days, a similar incident was reported from Haripur market where the miscreants looted Rs 3.92 lakh from the teller machine.

As the investigation is underway in series of ATM loot cases, police is yet to share information in this regard. However, more accused persons are suspected behind the ATM loot cases in the district.
