Jamuda to head Odisha Food Commission

Putting speculations to rest, the Odisha government today approved the contention of Ranglal Jamuda as the chairman of the Food Commission, sources said.

While the 1981-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer was appointed as chairman, former CBI Special Judge Manoj Kumar Panda and former Kendrapada MLA Sipra Mallick have been appointed as the members of the Commission.

The chairman will enjoy the benefits given to chief secretary and members would avail the benefits of those provided to a principal secretary.

It may be mentioned here that Jamuda has served as Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries prior to attaining superannuation in January this year.

Notably, as many as 27 persons had applied for the post of chairman of the Food Commission and 77 had applied for the post of a member.

On last Thursday, a high-level meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the state secretariat regarding setting up of the Commission. The Commission is likely to be operational in a month’s time.
