Japanese Encephalitis row: Complaint filed against Odisha CM, mins

Amid deaths of more than 50 children due to Japanese Encephalitis in Malkangiri, a complaint was filed against Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and several ministers today.

According to sources, one Ure Madi of Koimetla village has filed a complaint at Malkangiri police station against Naveen Patnaik, ministers of Health, Women & Child Development, ST & SC Development and Rural Welfare departments and RWSS secretary.

Worth mentioning, Madi’s child had died of the vector-borne disease. In the complaint, Madi has held the state government responsible for his child’s death alleging that his baby died due to medical negligence, sources added.

Madhi was accompanied to the police station by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Prasad Harichandan and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi.

Earlier in the day, Harichandan went to the district headquarters hospital and met 33 Japanese Encephalitis affected children undergoing treatment at the medical. He also held discussions with the district Collector, sources said.
