Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, Mar 1:
Jaundice outbreak in Odisha’s Millennium City-Cuttack has assumed alarming proportions with as many as 33 fresh cases reported since yesterday taking the total number of persons afflicted with the water-borne disease in the city to 129 this season, reports said.
According to reports, Bauri Sahi, Stuart Patna, Tulsipur, Bangali Sahi, Matha Sahi are the worst affected areas in the city.
Despite municipal administration taking steps to curb its spread in these areas, it seems it’s not enough to check the water-borne disease from spreading its tentacles to new territories.
In the affected areas, municipal administration is providing drinking water to households through tankers apart from replacing old underground water supply pipeline.
The Health department is collecting blood samples of people from affected areas for testing.
“All steps are being taken to bring the situation under control,” informed Health Minister Pradip Amat to reporters in Bhubaneswar.
