Javelin pierces through Class 9 student’s throat in Odisha school

Balangir: A Class 9 student sustained critical injuries after a javelin pierced through his throat during sports event at Agalpur Panchayat High School here in the district today.

Immediately, the minor boy was rushed to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital in Balangir for removal of the javelin from his throat.

According to reports, the Class 9 student had been to the school today morning. While he was present during the annual sports competition at the school, a javelin suddenly pierced through his throat triggering panic among other students.

The family members of the victim held the school authorities responsible for the incident.

“Such an incident occurred due to negligence of school teachers. We pray for speedy recovery of our child,” said Achyutananda Meher, uncle of the victim.
