Jharaphula Nayak’s last conversation with family before death

Bhubaneswar: A screenshot of SMS conversation between deceased Ramadevi Women’s University student Jharaphula Nayak (21) and her family before her death has come to fore.

Jharaphula had messaged her brother that she was unable to answer his call due to network issues. She further informed him that she stayed at the house of one of her friends namely ‘Sonali’.

On the other hand, conductor of a private bus said that Jharaphula boarded the vehicle at Jayadev Vihar in Bhubaneswar but alighted near Vani Vihar saying that she was feeling uneasy due to stomach ache.

Jharaphula’s father Ramakant Nayak alleged involvement of a youth namely Rakesh Sawin in murdering his daughter. He claimed that Rakesh was in a relationship with Jharaphula.

In another development in the case, police have identified the two accused, informed Jajpur SP today. The accused duo will be arrested soon, the police official said.

Body of Jharaphula Nayak was found under mysterious circumstances at Mulapala under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district on January 27. As per eyewitnesses, two youths brought the body on a scooter and dumped it on roadside before fleeing the spot with the vehicle. A bag was found near the body.

Jharaphula, who hailed from Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district, was a +3 second year student of the varsity.

According to reports, she had gone to Bhubaneswar on January 24 and attended classes next day. However, the circumstances under which she was brought to Jajpur was yet to be ascertained.

The incident of the body being dumped by the two youths has been captured on CCTV camera.
