Jharkhand youth arrested in Odisha capital for transacting fake Rs 2000 note

A youth from Jharkhand was arrested in Odisha capital for transacting counterfeit Rs 2000 currency today at a betel shop.

According to police sources, Md Samim Akhtar produced a Rs 2000 note to a betel shop owner Nandalal Jena at Brahmeswarpatna square near Basant Vihar under Badagada police station limits. The youth from Jharkhand offered the counterfeit currency for a cigarette packet after which the shopkeeper grew suspicious on the genuineness of the note.

The shopkeeper detained the youth and informed the police.

During investigation, the local police found six more fake notes from his possession.

He was arrested under section 489 (A) and 420 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). He will be forwarded to court tomorrow.

The accused hails from Kathalwadi under Radha Nagar police limits in Sahebganj district of Jharkhand. He was staying in a lodge near Nilachal Hospital under Unit-III area under Kharavel Nagar police limits since last three days.
