Jharsuguda COVID Hospital gets 40 more oxygen, 20 ICU beds

Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda COVID Hospital here was provided with additional 40 oxygen and 20 ICU beds today to cater to the need of people in the region. Besides, a basic life support (BLS) ambulance was provided to Veer Surendra Sai Airport.

Attending the event as chief guest, Health Minister Naba Kishore Das said the number of beds at the COVID Hospital has been increased keeping in view the people’s need. Another COVID hospital will open at Bandhabahal in next few days.

He further said the state Government is fully prepared for the possible third wave of the pandemic. As experts say the virus will mostly infect children during  the third wave, arrangements have been made to train 1114 doctors and 1036 health workers.

“Total 1610 general beds and 610 ICU beds will be kept ready for children across the state. Authorities have been asked to reserve 10 beds at each District Headquarters Hospital and Sub-divisional Hospital and two to four beds at each Community Health Centre (CHS).  Similarly, NICU, PICU, HDU and isolation beds with sufficient medicines have been arranged at medical colleges in the state.” the Minister said.
