Jilted lover makes girl student’s obscene photos viral in Odisha

Cuttack: A jilted lover allegedly posted obscene photographs of a girl student of Ravenshaw University here on Facebook after she rejected his proposal.

The victim lodged a written complaint with university authorities and Malgodown police against the accused who was suspended from Ravenshaw varsity, after her obscene photos went viral on social media.

Based on the complaint, the university authorities handed over the matter to Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) for probe.

Sources said that the girl student made her statement at the probing committee on Tuesday. Further investigation will be made asking the accused student and his guardian to appear before the committee on Thursday.

Earlier, the accused student was suspended from the university for two years for his alleged involvement in Lalitgiri hostel clash.

According to reports, the girl student and accused had close relationship while she was staying hostel. After the youth proposed her, she rejected it few months ago.

Recently, the embarrassing youth after getting rejected by the girlfriend allegedly thrashed her and misbehaved with her inside the university campus. Later, he posted few obscene photos of the girl on Facebook and made lewd comments.

The suspended student is accused of misbehaving with the girl student and thrashing her entering into the varsity. The matter has been handed over to the GSCASH for investigation. Strong action will be taken against the student if he is found guilty, informed Ravenshaw University VC Ishan Kumar Patra.

The girl student had relationship with the accused student earlier, said Cuttack ACP Trinath Mishra.

A complaint has been lodged at police station. However, the accused is absconding and police have continued conducting raids at various locations to nab him, he added.
