Job racket busted in Odisha; 4 held

Jharsuguda: Busting a job racket, the Badmal police of Jharsuguda district arrested four fraudsters outside the Vedanta Ltd here last night.

The cops also seized Rs 54,000 cash, a car and CVs of around 50 job aspirants from their possession. The four arrested are- Jayant Rajak (30) of East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, Ranjan Mahanand (24) of Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda, Pralaya Nanda (52) of Kesinga area in Kalahandi district and Maheswar Pattnaik of Rampur in Kalahandi district.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused have duped over a hundred job aspirants of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of proving them jobs at Vedanta company here. They had taken Rs 40,000-50,000 from each candidate in Odisha and Jharkhand.

When contacted, an official of the company said, “We appeal to job aspirants not to fall for the traps. A counter FIR will be filed by us soon,” a Vedanta official said.
