Jolt to Odisha Congress as OPCC vice-president Rajat Choudhury resigns

Bhubaneswar: In a major setback to the Odisha unit of Congress ahead of the elections, senior leader Rajat Choudhury today resigned from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.

Choudhury was the vice-president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC).

“With a heavy heart, I am submitting my resignation with immediate effect. I was working for the party for last 24 years with different positions,” Choudhury wrote in the resignation letter.

He had earlier worked as the President of the Youth Congress’ Odisha unit from 2014 to 2016 and was later appointed as the General Secretary of OPCC.

“I feel that Congress can’t fight against BJD and BJP in Odisha. The party lacks effective strategy for the upcoming elections. It is not conducting any programme against the State Government. I can’t compromise, for which I decided to quit the party,” he said.
