Jual, Nitesh donate to COVID-19 fund in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Two Odisha MPs — Jual Oram and Nitesh Ganga Deb — have pledged funds from MPLAD to combat novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

While the parliamentarian from Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, Ganga Deb, donated Rs 2.50 crore, Sundargarh Lok Sabha MP Jual Oram contributed Rs 1 crore from his MPLAD fund for the measures taken against COVID-19.

Ganga Deb donated entire funds from the MPLAD to help the government in tackling the pandemic situation in the state.

“In order to assist the Central/State government and district administration in my parliamentary constituency for fighting the deadly virus, I am giving all my MPLADs of Rs 2.50 crore for COVID-19 Relief to be used for medical equipment,” the MP wrote to Sambalpur Collector.

He urged that the entire amount to be utilised in three districts that come under his parliamentary segment.

He mentioned that funds of Rs 1.25 crore to be released for Sambalpur, Rs 75 lakh for Deogarh and Rs 50 lakh for Angul districts under Sambalpur Parliamentary Constituency.

Recently, Ganga Deb had announced that he along with his family will remain in home quarantine as part of precautionary measure to prevent spread of COVID-19 following his son’s return from the United Kingdom (UK).
