Jumbo tramples woman to death in Odisha, locals block NH

Angul: An elephant trampled a woman to death at Pratappur village under Handapa Forest Range in Odisha’s Angul district today.

The deceased has been identified as Manjulata Sahu (55). The woman was standing near her house this morning when the pachyderm attacked her. The animal dragged her with its trunk and crushed her to death on the spot.

Irate villagers blocked NH-55 near Pratappur demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. Many vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road due to the blockade.
