Jumbo tramples woman to death in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A tusker reportedly trampled a woman to death at Bajrakot village under Kaniha Forest Range in Odisha’s Angul district, today.

The deceased has been identified as Nayanai Sahu of the village. The incident took place this morning when she was heading towards a bus stop near the village with her daughter to board a Bhubaneswar-bound bus.

An elephant attacked the mother-daughter duo on the road. While the daughter of Nayani managed to flee the spot, the pachyderm crushed the woman to death.

Forest officials, on being informed, reached the village and initiated investigation. Worth mentioning, the elephant had yesterday trampled Naba Kishore Sethy of nearby Olanda village to death.
