Junior Clerk caught taking bribe in Odisha

Phulbani: Vigilance officials today arrested a junior clerk posted at the office of Executive Engineer of RD Division, Kandhamal for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe.

Sources said JE Amulya Kumar Sahu had demanded Rs 5,000 bribe from one Shankarsan Satapathy to process his file for release of pending pension benefits in his favour. With no option, the complainant brought the matter to the notice of the anti-corruption wing. Later, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught the JE red-handed at his office.

The officials also seized the bribe money from the accused. Besides, a case was also registered by the Berhampur Vigilance in this connection.
