Cuttack: Finally, yielding to the demands of junior doctors, the Odisha government this evening transferred Professor Dr. Dateswar Hotta, HOD Urology of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur.

The State government’s Health & Family Welfare department issued a notification this evening in this regard.

Junior doctors at SCB Medical College & Hospital had accused Dr Hotta of harassing them by making them work in his private clinic and nursing home and were on cease work for the last eight days demanding his suspension .

Earlier in the day, agitating junior doctors had intensified their agitation by resorting to relay hunger strike to press for fulfillment of their demand. As many as 150 House Surgeons and 160 Resident Doctors had gone on mass leave from today in solidarity with the agitating junior doctors.

While junior doctors at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur had resorted to cease work from afternoon today in support of their fellow brethren in SCB Medical and Hospital, junior doctors at VIMSAR, Burla had worn black badges to express solidarity.

A four-member team had conducted an inquiry into the allegations leveled against Prof. Dr Hotta and had submitted its report to the State government along with audio visual evidence.
