Malkangiri: A junior engineer is feared to have drowned after he went missing when a boat carrying 15 people capsized in Potteru river in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Friday evening. He was identified as Kailash Sahu.

Sahu, along with 14 other passengers, was onboard the country boat while commuting from Kutumpalli to Pendailbai in Podia block when the vessel’s engine stopped working and it toppled. While the other passengers managed to swim back to the shore, Sahu went missing.

Sources said Sahu was working as a junior engineer with a firm called BMS Construction Ltd. He was settled in Uttar Pradesh but was residing here since a while as he was currently engaged in the construction of a bridge over the river. He used to commute between the two villages, located on either side of the river, daily for the work.
