Junior engineer under Vigilance scanner over DA charge in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Separate teams of Odisha Vigilance sleuths today carried out simultaneous raids at seven different places linked to a junior engineer (JE) over disproportionate assets (DA) charge in Malkangiri, Balasore, Jaleswar and Bhubaneswar.

The engineer was identified as Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty. He has been working in CADA division of Water Resources department in Malkangiri district.

Searches were conducted at locations including his office and residence as he has allegedly amassed properties disproportionate to his legal source of income.

During the raids, a three-storey building, a 2-BHK Flat in Bhubaneswar, 11 plots in Jaleswar, cash of Rs 1.43 lakh, and a four-wheeler, along with other assets were unearthed.

The ill-gotten assets found in the name of Mohanty and his family members are a three-storey building located at Deulipanchughanta in Jaleswar of Balasore with an approximate area of 10,000 sqft, a 2-BHK Flat in Green Homes Apartment at Raghunathpur in Bhubaneswar (approx. area 1,200 sqft), 11 plots in and around Jaleswar town including a land on Plot No-1,065 & 1,066 of Khata No-235 measuring Ac 0.26 decimal and a land on Plot No-1,145 of Khata No-77 measuring Ac 0.21 decimal, both of Mouza Balikbad-146 in Jaleswar, a land on Plot No-175/885/1,136 of Khata No-194/220 of Mouza Deulipanchughanta (NAC)-22 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.04 decimal, a land on Plot No-175/885/1,171 of Khata No-194/257 of Mouza Deulipanchughanta (NAC)-22 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.05 decimal, a piece of land on Plot No-1,045 of Khata No-8 of Mouza Paikasida-145 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.18 decimal, a land on Plot No-1,299 of Khata No-922/1,619 of Mouza Santia (NAC)-32 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.10 decimal, a land on Plot No-1,076/1,548 of Khata No-395/270 of Mouza Balikbad-146 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.16 decimal, a land on Plot No-121/1,397 of Khata No-382/280 of Mouja Paikasida-145 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.02 decimal, a land on Plot No-789/1,398 of Khata No-382/280 of Mouza Paikasida-145 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.11 decimal and a land on Plot No-80/777 of Khata No-243/142 of Mouza Sankasid-151 in Jaleswar measuring Ac 0.15 decimal.

Measurement and valuation of the above buildings, Flats, and plots are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.

More of the assets unraveled by the Vigilance sleuths are cash of Rs 1.43 lakh, bank, postal, insurance and other deposits, a four-wheeler and 2 two-wheelers, which are being ascertained.

Raids were underway till the time when this report was filed. The movable and immovable assets found so far in the name of Mohanty and his family members may likely go up, an official source said.

An Additional Vigilance SP, three DSPs, eight Inspectors, eight sub-inspectors (SIs), and several other subordinate staff participated in the simultaneous house searches, the source added.
