‘Kadvi Hawa’ crew in Odisha capital to promote movie

Bhubaneswar: “Even though this movie has not been shot in Odisha, you will only have the imagery of Odisha when you come out of the cinema hall,” said actor Sanjay Mishra at the press conference here today during the promotion of ‘Kadvi Hawa’, based on the burning issue of climate change.

Acclaimed director Nila Madhab Panda took the conference forward describing his movie, while others elaborated on climate change.

“People are ignoring the urgency of the situation. The monster is crawling towards at a fast pace and it’s high time for us to start taking steps to tackle the menace. The resilience of human spirit makes us forget how big the problem is,” said Tillotama Shome.

Moving onto the movie, Sanjay Mishra added, “The air, which brings so many different seasons, is shown as unhealthy. People are fighting for survival. If steps are not taken in the years to come, the hazards shown in the movie will turn into reality”.

When asked about how much Odisha can one see in his movies, the director said, “This movie has a lot to do with my land. I belong here and it is going to stay with me no matter where I go and what movie I make.” Movies should become a medium of bringing important issues to light through stories, he added.

The entire cast had been to Jagannath Temple in Puri this morning. On asked about the experience at the temple, Sanjay Mishra said “Arrey, bahot badhiya feeling thi (It was a great feeling). Panda ji, thank you. The trip to this temple was so overwhelming. I am only waiting for a chance to come back here again”.

The entire cast of Kadvi Hawa along with director-producer Nila Madhab Panda and Akshay Parija were present at the press conference which began with the screening of the movie trailer.

The movie is a heart-wrenching story of two individuals, a blind old man Hedu (Sanjay Mishra) and a young bank loan recovery agent, Gunu babu (Ranvir Shorey) who come from lands with two extreme climatic conditions, fighting for survival. Bhupesh Singh plays the role of Hedu’s son, Mukund and his wife, Parvati, Tillotama Shome is a calm, tenacious woman. The two regions, Mahua- a drought-stricken village, and the cyclone-prone coastal village, Satabhaya in Odisha.
