KALIA scheme: 12.45 lakh beneficiaries to get assistance in 1st phase tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: A total of 12,45,490 beneficiaries of the much-hyped KALIA scheme will get monetary assistance in first phase at a special function in Puri tomorrow.

Speaking to media, Cooperation Secretary Krishan Kumar said the list of farmers to be distributed with the monetary assistance was prepared yesterday. They will receive the money through direct benefit transfer (DBT) in first phase. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will launch the DBT process for distribution of the money at a farmers’ conclave to be held in Puri tomorrow.

“Around 65 lakh farmers, including landless and small and marginal farmers, had applied the green forms. The second draft beneficiary list will be released at all Panchayat offices from January 25 to December 3,” said the Cooperation Secretary.

Besides, the farmers can also submit their grievances or suggestions (if any) at those offices through specific forms, he added.

Worth mentioning, the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to each beneficiary in five phases.

Meanwhile, the Cooperative Department has asked district officials to ensure names of large-scale farmers, retired Government employees and Government and PSU employees are not enrolled in beneficiary list.
