Kalinga International Film fest kicks off at KIIT in Odisha capital

The Kalinga International Film Festival 2015, organized by KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences in association with Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI), was inaugurated in the Odisha capital today.

Kalinga International Film FestInaugurating the festival, FFSI president Gautam Kaul said there is huge scope in the field of Art and Culture in Odisha. But it is not coming to any body’s notice.

He said international film festival will be organized in a grand way from the coming years.

In his address, FFSI general secretary Premendra Mazumder said the international film festival will be held regularly every year in KIIT campus.

KIIT vice chancellor Prof PP Mathur said the University has not only provides quality education, but also promotes art, culture and sports in a proper manner.

“KIIT has experienced in organizing such type of national and international mega events in its campus”, he added.

Expressing happiness Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder, KIIT & KISS said Odisha is rich in culture and heritage, but there is a misconception about Odisha around the world.

“We are trying our best to project Odisha globally through KIIT & KISS, he pointed out.

He thanked FFSI functionaries for organizing such kind of film festival in KIIT

Himanshu Khatua, CEO, School of Film and media sciences gave welcome address.

On the inaugural day, Indian film ‘Krantidhara’ was screened.

From tomorrow internationally acclaimed films including Hush girls don’t scream (Iran), Avalon (Sweden), We came from far away, the movie (Argentina), Falsifier (Serbia), The bet Collector (Philippines), Red cotton (Myanmar), Three Dots (Afghanistan), Warriors of the steppe (Kazakhstan), Sex Drugs and Taxation (Denmark), The Kids from the Marx and Engels Street (Montenegro), Mother of Asphalt (Croatia), Playing the Tarr (Afghanistan), Badhshala (Nepal), Ant Story (Bangladesh) and the inaugural movie Krantidhara (India) will be screened.
