Bhubaneswar: It is indeed a great news for Odia movie lovers as ‘Kalira Atita’, directed by Nila Madhab Panda, has made its entry into the race for Oscars.
“In a year full of challenges, feel extremely happy to announce Kalira Atita has made its entry into the Oscar race in general entry category for best picture, best actor, best director and many other categories,” tweeted Panda.
“It’s being made available for academy screening,” he added.

The movie, starring Pitobash Tripathy, revolves around a young man from Satavaya village in Odisha’s Kendrapara district who returns to his village to find devastation caused by climate change.
The character Gunu, the protagonist essayed by Pitobash, symbolises the struggle of innumerable hapless villagers who were at the receiving end of nature’s fury.
