Kartik rituals begin at Puri Srimandir from today

Puri: With an end of Navratri and Dussehra, the month-long holy Kartik rituals began at Srimandir in Puri from today on 11th day of Sukla Pakshya of the month of Ashwin as per Hindu almanac.

As the sacred rituals commenced today, devotees from across the state had the darshan of Lord Jagannath in Radhadamodar Besha, also known as Raidamodar Besha, at the temple in the morning.

The Radhadamodar Besha of Lord Jagannath was conducted following Abakasha and Sakala Dhupa rituals inside the temple. The special besha is also held at different mutts and on premises of Radha Ballav Mutt for devotees.

Every year, the Kartik rituals begin at the Jagannath Temple in Puri from Ekadashi tithi of Sukla Pakshya (waxing phase of moon) of Ashwin month. The devotees witness the Raidamodar Besha of Lord Jagannath everyday during the period till Panchak in Kartik month.

The Habisyalis will observe ‘Kartik Brata’ from October 10, a day after Kumar Purnima.
