Bhubaneswar: In view of possible spread of COVID-19 infections, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) banned the Kartika Purnima celebrations under its jurisdiction for this year.

With this move, no 'Boita Bandana' celebration can take place on the auspicious occasion of Kartika Purnima in Bhubaneswar this year.

The denizens will not be allowed to carry out any kind activity related to Kartika Purnima festival at the Bindusagar Lake, river ghats and other water bodies under Bhubanewswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

As per the order, people will be restricted to take mass bathing at rivers, lakes and water bodies under BMC and to set toy boats afloat on the auspicious occasion that falls on November 30 this year.

Also, they will be prohibited to visit the temples on Karitka Purnima.

"The celebration of the function including visit of temples related to this function is hereby banned to be held in BMC jurisdiction for this year," the BMC stated in a release today.
