Kendrapara: The Derabish police today arrested two engineering students for their alleged involvement in making a video of a 17-year-old girl's intimate moments with a boy viral on social media.

The arrested have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Behera (20), a resident of Nuabandha village in Athagarh and Tapas Kumar Rana (20) of Dhumat under Nikirai police limits.

The two were yesterday detained by the Derabish police after the girl, a third-year engineering student, lodged an FIR in this regard.

As per her complaint, she was in a relationship with Soumya Ranjan Behera. During the period, he forced her to have physical relation with him and shot a video featuring their intimate moments.

Behera had been blackmailing her through the video to maintain relationship with him and have physical intimacy. When the girl protested it, he threatened her to make the video viral on the internet and throw acid on her face.

Later, Behera with the help of Rana made the video viral, it was alleged. Behera has been booked under Sections 376 (2-B), 292, 294, 323, 392, 506, 509 and 34 of IPC. Besides, Section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 and sections 67 and 67-A of the IT Act, 2000 also have been slapped against the accused.

Likewise, Tapas have been booked under Section 292 of the IT Act.
