Bhubaneswar, Dec 14:
Family members of a 16-year old girl from Nuapada district, who was kidnapped on September 25, staged a demonstration at Lower PMG here on Saturday seeking the state government’s intervention to trace the girl.
Satyanarayan Achary, the father of the victim belonging to Ainlajuba village in Nuapada district, said he decided to stage a demonstration in the state capital after running from pillar to post since his daughter was kidnapped.
Lilesh Kumar Sahu along with four his associates had kidnapped his daughter Namita Achary on September 25 this year while she was returning from college, Achary said.
“When my daughter did not reach home in the evening, I lodged a complaint in the Nuapada Police station but failed to get positive response from police as they refused to lodge a report on the same day” he said.
After repeated pleas, police did lodge a case after two days and nabbed four persons from the nearby village but failed to arrest the prime accused Lilesh or trace his daughter even three months after her disappearance, the aggrieved father said.
“I had brought the matter to the notice of the district Collector, the SP, the local MLA and the State Human Rights Commission, but none of them did anything to trace my daughter and arrest the main culprit,” Achary said.
He said anonymous callers had been threatening him of ‘dire consequences’ if he pressed the matter.
“I and my family members will continue to demonstrate at the Lower PMG square until we get a justice,” he said.
