KIDS conducts IHC seminar in Odisha

The department of Oral Pathology of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha has successfully conducted IHC-TECH 2014, a two-day seminar and hands-on workshop on Immunohistochemistry (IHC) on August 22 and 23.KIIT KIDS

The event is first of its kind in Odisha to be conducted by any dental college.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof PP Mathur, vice chancellor, KIIT University in the presence of Prof Dr BC Das, director, School of Medicine, KIIT University, Prof Dr RC Das, principal, KIDS, Prof Dr A Banerjee, organizing chairman and Dr Harish Kumar, organizing secretary.

The first day consisted of lecture sessions and case discussions by two eminent oral pathologists Dr Rudrayya Shivanand Puranik from PMNM Dental College and Hospital, Bagalkot, Karnataka and Dr Jyoti Dilip Bhavtankar from Govt Dental College, Aurangabad.

A total of 150 delegates consisting of postgraduate students, faculties and Interns from different dental colleges of Odisha and other places such as Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Pondicherry and Bagalkot attended the seminar.

The second day was dedicated for the hands-on workshop on Immunohistochemistry Techniques, where all participants performed the entire procedure of IHC supervised by Dr Abikshyeet Panda, Dr Shyam Sundar Behura, Dr Sujatha R, Dr Kiran Kumar Mishra, the faculties of department of Oral Pathology, KIDS and technical professionals from Biogenex.

It may be mentioned that KIDS is the first dental college of Odisha to set up an Immunohistochemistry Laboratory under the department of Oral Pathology.
