Killing of 3 ultras: Panic grips Kalahandi villagers as Maoist posters surface again

M Rampur: Panic gripped the villagers as a few Maoist posters surfaced today, following the killing of three ultras by security personnel during an exchange of fire at Taparang under Madanpur-Rampur block of Kalahandi district nearly a month and a half ago.

The posters were put up at different locations on the main road near Taparang Chhak. “The exchange of fire had taken place on May 9 and the red rebels have again tried to establish their presence in this region. This is for the second time that the posters were put up,” some locals expressed.

A faction of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group belonging to KKBN (Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh) division, paid tribute to their three colleagues through posters and at the same time appealed to Taparang villagers to join the movement opposing the police encounter, saying it to be a fake one.

The encounter was an intentional killing of innocent people, the Maoist poster mentioned.

Besides, the red rebels requested the villagers to support a Bandh call given for June 25.
