Bhubaneswar: As many as 17 candidates of the total 37 in fray for the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha, scheduled to go for polls on May 13, have assets worth over Rs 1 crore, said the ADR report.
All the candidates of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the four Lok Sabha seats—Berhampur, Kalahandi, Koraput and Nabarangpur—have assets worth over Rs 1 crore, said Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) in its report after analyzing the poll affidavits of all 37 nominees.
Three of the four Congress candidates for the above said Lok Sabha seats have declared assets worth over Rs 1 crore, added the ADR report.
Malvika Devi, the BJP nominee for Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat, is the richest candidate in the fray with assets worth over Rs 41 crore. She has declared immovable assets worth over Rs 40 crore and movable assets worth over Rs 1.5 crore in her poll affidavit.
V Chandra Shekhar, an independent nominee for Berhampur LS seat, the second richest candidate with assets worth over Rs 28 crore. He has declared immovable assets worth over Rs 4.6 crore and movable assets worth over Rs 24 crore in his poll affidavit.
Rajendra Dalabehera, the Bharatiya Bikash Parishad nominee for Berhampur seat, is the third richest candidate with assets worth over Rs 10 crore. Dalabehera declared immovable assets worth Rs 10.30 crore and movable assets worth only Rs 25,000 in his affidavit while filing nomination.
Pramila Pujari, the SUCI(C) nominee for Koraput LoK Sabha seat, the poorest candidate with assets worth Rs 20,625.
Trinath Mundagudia, the SUCI(C) nominee for Nabarangpur LS seat, is another candidate with low assets. Mundagudia has declared assets worth Rs 47, 000 in his poll affidavit.
Prakash Hikaka, the CPI(ML)(L) nominee for Koraput LS seat, has declared assets worth around Rs 2 lakh in his affidavit while filing the nomination.
