Know the singers from Odisha in Rising Star on Colors TV

Bhubaneswar: New Year begins with a bang for Odisha, with two singers from the state all set to rock India’s Rising Star (season 2) on Colors TV. Aman Biswal and Iswari Behera will be seen in this LIVE music reality and talent hunt show, competing with a diverse variety of singers from all walks of life.

The LIVE promo of the show aired on Colors TV, last night during the Grand Finale of Bigg Boss (season 11), gave screen space to 12-year-old Aman Biswal from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with five other contestants.

Aman was part of a medley in the promo, where he sang a classical interlude of Sun Saathiya from the movie ABCD 2 and Punjabi catchphrase Aahun Aahun song from Love Aaj Kal.

“Aman will be competing with people who are older to him and is undergoing a voice transition phase. But I still want him to vie for the title despite the odds. I am confident that he will leave an indelible mark on the minds of the audience and judges with his power-packed performances. He is a talented child and I hope he wins,” said Aman’s father Arun Biswal.

Aman is a Class VII student of DAV, Kalinga Nagar, and has been singing in competitions since the age of 4 and winning accolades. He is learning music from Pandit Debanarayan Satpathy and is very particular about his morning and evening riyaaz, apart from studies and sports, his father added.

Incidentally, Aman’s older brother Rohan is also a singer. He was the winner of Singing Superstar Junior, hosted by a local Odia channel in 2014, and made it to the Top 20 singers of Indian Idol Junior (season 2) in 2015—the same season when Odisha’s Ananya Sritam Nanda emerged winner. He may be seen alongside Aman in one of the episodes, as this show aims to portray and focus on the lives of the participants alongside their singing skills.

Similarly, Iswari Behera of Sambalpur will be seen in the subsequent episodes of this show, though she did not perform in the promo last night. The 21-year-old was the winner of Nua Gita Nua Swara and 1st runner-up of Bhakti Ra Swara, organised by local television channels in Odisha.

This reality show is being judged by popular music director Shankar Mahadevan and singers-actors Monali Thakur and Diljit Dosanjh.

India’s Rising Star (season 2) will premiere on January 20 on Colors TV. The participating singers will perform live with simultaneous online audience voting on the VOOT app, besides the app and website of the television channel. Aman is scheduled to perform on the opening day, followed by Iswari on January 21 at 9 pm.

It may be recalled here that Chelsi Behura from Cuttack had made it to the Top 14 in the last edition of this show.

Though there are reports of other singers from Odisha, who will be revealed later in the show, so far, Aman and Iswari have been announced as contestants from the state. We hope Odisha votes for these local talents in large numbers, helping them gain popularity and outlast the other contenders.
