Kolkata-bound bus falls off flyover in Odisha’s Jajpur; 5 dead, over 30 injured

Bhubaneswar: At least five passengers were killed and several others were injured when a bus fell off a flyover in Odisha’s Jajpur district today.

The incident took place while the bus, named Kalia Nana, was on its way to Kolkata from Puri in the evening.

The bus fell off the Barabati flyover in Jajpur after the driver lost control over the vehicle. There were around 50 passengers in the bus.

The Fire Brigade personnel along with the police launched an operation to rescue the injured passengers. They used gas cutters to cut the mangled bus and rescue the passengers.

The administration deployed around 10 ambulances to rush the injured persons to a hospital at Dharmashala. Five passengers, including a woman, died while being treated at the hospital.

At least 30 critically-injured passengers were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
