Kolkata returnee dies at quarantine centre in Odisha

Bhadrak: A 72-year-old man, who had returned from Kolkata and kept at a quarantine centre in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, died yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Devendra Rout of Sarasada village.

As per information, he was lodged at the quarantine centre in Bayabanapur yesterday around 11.15 am. After having snacks, he slept at the quarantine facility.

Later, quarantine centre authorities tried to wake him up for lunch but he didn’t respond. A team of doctors from Bhandaripokhari reached the spot and examined him, following which they declared him dead.

Bhandaripokhari BDO Umesh Mallick said the deceased had heart-related ailments. The body has been sent for autopsy and reason behind the death will be known after submission of post-mortem report, he said.

An unnatural death case has been registered in this connection at Bhandaripokhari police station.
